For this assignment I went to a Harper Hawks basketball game to take photos. The goal of this assignment was to tell a story of a single game through the photos. This meant that I took photos both on and off the court.
Because sports photography involves a lot of quick moving subjects, I had to be very deliberate with my shutter speed. If I increased my shutter speed too high the motion blur would be gone but the photo would become too noisy with a higher ISO. However, if I set my shutter speed too low, I would get lower noise at the cost of a potentially blurry picture. I made adjustments to my shutter speed throughout the game to try and have the least noise possible while eliminating motion blur
I took a lot of photos at this game. Since basketball is such a fast-paced game my cameras shutter was going off constantly. As a result, my camera suddenly ran out of storage space during the game. Fortunately, I had a solution. I have a camera with dual SD cards. Under normal circumstances I set the camera to record the same photos to both cards. This protects the photos in the event that one of the SD cards becomes corrupted. However, because both cards had the same photos, I was able to format one of the cards. This deleted the photos on that card and allowed me to shoot more photos without deleting the shots I had already taken.
